Weather Anomalies
Most of the time, Mark and I putter about Villa Soleil, our home in Dubai. The garden is now taking shape and grass is now lush and green where sand used to be. We have small flowering plants to the edge of the brick steps and on the edge of the garden walls are small bushes of bougainvillea and frangipani. One wall also has the easy growing flamboyant tree, they call it, which blooms small orange flowers. In fact, one of the trees is already giving us flowers. Alright! Spring in the Springs!
Since we are here in Dubai, let me tell you, we have seen all the weather disturbances the Arabian peninsula has never experienced in the past fifteen years. From the flash floods of downtown Sharjah, the “shamala” or small tidal wave that flooded the Sharjah beaches on January 10, 2005 (our 10th wedding anniversary), to cold evenings like the crisp fall evenings in the Northeast to lighting, thunder and heavy rains all day for the past three days! That’s it! The world’s coming to an end!
